No, the congress is not cancelled, but postponed to 2022. The various restrictions set by health authorities and local governments and the uncertain course of the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in concerns regarding the safety of the Congress participants. The ESES Executive Committee and the Local Organizing Committee have concluded that with the worldwide pandemic and accompanying social and economic disruption, ESES 2021 Congress must be postponed.
The Congress will be a unique opportunity for all ESES Community for networking and exchanging of knowledge especially after two years of social distancing in Congresses. Moreover, ESES Executive Committee and the Local Organizing Committee for ESES 2021 Congress in Athens strongly believe that nothing can replace the physical human communication especially in continuing medical education.
ESES Congress 2021 will now become ESES 2022 with the new dates being Thursday 26 May to Saturday 28 May 2022. Divani Caravel Hotel, a business city hotel in the centre of Athens, within walking distance from metro will be the Congress venue for ESES 2022 Congress.
All current registrations for the ESES 2021 will be rolled over automatically to apply to 2022. Those already registered do not need to do anything to secure their attendance for 2022. The same applies for purchase of gala dinner tickets & registration at pre-congress courses. All components of current registrations including registration, admission to all scientific sessions, Coffee breaks, Light lunch, Welcome Reception, Congress bag and all associated material, Certificate of attendance, will also roll over.
Registrations for the ESES 2021 are transferrable. We strongly encourage those who are currently registered but unable to attend in 2022 to transfer their registration to a colleague or friend. Should replacement or transfer is not possible, registration may be refunded provided that the cancellation will be submitted in writing to the Congress Secretariat, the latest till February 10th 2022.
New early-bird deadlines has been aligned with the new Congress dates. New early bird registration deadline is February 28th 2022. All registrations made through the form will now be for attendance in May 2022.
As medicine and endocrine surgery are constantly evolving and abstracts already submitted since 2019 may not include current data and latest advances/ researches, the ESES Executive Council and the Local Organizing Committee decided to re-open the abstract submission platform. In this respect abstracts already submitted for 2020 are NOT transferrable to the new dates, while the submission and evaluation process will start from the beginning. Of course, abstracts already submitted may be re-submitted, however they will be re-evaluated and authors will be informed about their acceptance or rejection after the abstract submission is closed.
The abstract submission platform will open on September 1st 2021 and will be live till December 10th 2021. The link for the online abstract submission will be announced at the official website of the Congress www.eses2022.org.

Sponsorships and Exhibition for ESES 2022 are also transferrable. The Congress Secretariat will revert to all the confirmed sponsors in due course and the soonest possible, with all the updated necessary details and the new floor plan.
If you booked accommodation through the event organizer your booking will be rolled over automatically for the new dates, and any deposit paid will be held as a credit on your account. You will receive an email from ESES 2022 Accommodation Secretariat with the new accommodation booking. Event organizers are working closely with all hotels to ensure that the nightly rates for the 2022 period are the same or similar to the current booked rates.
